From: Educating for Action
$1.70
This chapter provides guidelines for using social media for social change. The first section provides a brief overview of how social media impacts the contemporary world. The second section outlines some of the basic tools of social media — websites, email, Facebook, Twitter, Google, etc. The third section applies some basic organizing principles to the use of social media — targeting powerbrokers, shaping your message, developing social media content, and so on. The fourth section discusses strategies for expanding your activist network via social media. The fifth and final section provides a real-life example of how one activist, John Hlinko of Left Action, expanded his activist network to over 1,000,000 progressives through the strategic use of social media.
