The Gig Is Up

This chapter is a small love note to the iwc (Immigrant Workers Centre) for always being willing to experiment to find new ways to build leadership and solidarity. It’s difficult for unions to organize migrant workers, so worker centres like the iwc have become an important tool to compensate for trade union decline, which has been due to internal crises like decreasing membership levels and struggles over vision and bureaucratization, as well as external factors, like neoliberalism.
