Democracy’s Post-1945 Worldwide Rise and Decline

New!

From: Myths of Modern History

$2.60

The author examines the myths concerning the winding, up-and-down road taken by democracy from 1945 to the present. He argues that, contrary to conventional wisdom, the 1989 fall of the Berlin Wall and the subsequent demise of communism in the Soviet Union and its satellites did not amount to a victory for democracy but its opposite– rather, this was a triumph for the wealthy, powerful, and privileged few, the "1 per cent."
