Although Anna Stamers left no personal account or letters escribing her work, war diaries, records of service, newspaper reports, and letters and diaries of other nursing sisters give form and shape to the story of Anna’s experience as a wartime nursing sister. The facilities available to care for war wounded and the triage system, that both dictated how incapacitated soldiers would be moved from the front lines and where the resources to treat them were located, are described. Working conditions in England’s Moore Barracks, away from the front lines, are described as difficult.
