Anna Stamers was transfered to France in 1916. Hospitals in France were set up to receive all incoming wounded from the Allied forces, as well as civilians and prisoners of war. Horrible injuries, and the effects of gas, all in a pre-antibiotic era, are described by Nursing Sisters through two major offensives, as well as their after-hours recreation.
