Searching on Canadian CourseReadings

Basic search

Our basic search function is located on the top right-hand side of the page.

Enter any word or phrase in the search bar to locate relevant chapters by Canadian publishers and authors. Conduct simple searches to locate the materials you need. Enter your keywords and view the results. Our basic search tool identifies chapters whose abstracts contain the words you searched for, helping you explore content relating to your topic.

Advanced search

Our advanced search function is located on the left-hand side of the page.

Use search operators along with your key words to improve your search results. To narrow your search, making it more specific, use commands like AND and NOT. To broaden your search, and get more results, use OR.

Using the drop down menu, you can select the type of reading, select specific authors, publishers, and publication dates to narrow your search further.

About search operators

Using AND in your search produces results that contain all of the words you have entered.

Using OR in your search produces results that contain any of the words you have entered.

Using NOT in your search produces results that contain the word(s) you have entered except the word following NOT.

Browsing by subject

You can focus your search by selecting any of the search filters located on the left-hand side of the page under “My Account”. Search filters allow you to retrieve results on a wide range of topics relating to the social science and humanities. Select the “+” to expand the filters and browse specific sub-topics.
